None of my D’s schools asked this, and definitely not GaTech.
I’m guessing maybe when students decline an offer they are being asked to voluntarily indicate where they are going.
It is a new program, but well regarded. They have gotten recognition pretty quickly and actually won a very competitive research grant from NASA.
It is definitely on the rise. Already ranked higher than the Alabama engeering program which was established at least a decade earlier. There is just such a demand with the growth in Georgia, and UGA has gotten so tough to get into that they have a good raw material I guess
Correct, a few days to a few weeks after declining acceptance an email is sent with a link to a survey. I encouraged my daughter to do them. They send emails reminding them to complete the survey for a few months… We knocked out several together at one point since I had made a big deal about providing feedback on things that made a difference in her decision. They were all similar - I am sure same company that manages their application process.
I am going to guess the completion rate is low, so the data may not be the best. It is interesting that GT shared their info. I appreciate the transparency.
They do not ask where kids are applying on the application.
There were some posts that said colleges could see the order of the FAFSA list, but I think that was a hold over from a long time ago.
In interviews, I know several kids who have been asked where else they are applying or why they are not considering a state flagship, etc… that is kind of wrong to do to a kid.
