If you were Bridged to Clemson, are you going to go and what were your stats

If you were Bridged to Clemson are you going to go, what were your stats and do you know people currently bridged and do they like it?

In-state at super competitive hs. 1330 SAT, 28 ACT, 4.3 SC GPA, top 18%.
5 AP’s, rest honors- only one CP class in HS (PE). NHS, varsity athlete, part time job, several other academic honor societies.
D was bridged and totally blind-sided.

She was going to accept at UofSC anyway bc better for her major, but still. That said, we have friends at bridge this year and like it.

@runnermama , do the friends at bride this year feel like they are part of the campus? My daughter got into USC as well but wasn’t really one of her top choices :frowning:

They do! But it’s all what you make of it. I can see how it would be just as easy not to be since you are living and studying separately. It would 100% depend on the student’s effort to 1-go over to the Clemson campus, 2- join clubs, 3- get involved in any way they can.

Also, aside from her major being better at UofSC, she was really looking forward to being in a sorority, so bridge wasn’t appealing to her in that regard at all.

There are at least 4 kids from our neighborhood (over the last 3 years) and a several more from DS’s high school class that have bridged to Clemson. While I can’t really comment on their Bridge year, I know that they all went on to fully integrate at Clemson in their sophomore years. Several joined fraternities/sororities their sophomore years. For those kids who have always seen themselves attending Clemson and who couldn’t imagine themselves anywhere else, it seems to be a good option. Maybe not the best option for everyone - but great for those kids.

@runnermama, what is her major?

Elementary Education. We mets with lots of Ed advisors at lots of schools over the past year, and Clemson’s Ed department seemed the least cohesive. I get that they are spending more resources on stem programs at the moment, which is fine! Just means there are better teacher prep programs out there. Clemson’s is smaller, and by default, more difficult to get into. Doesn’t mean it’s better, just more “competitive.”

Also, you can’t do elementary Ed in bridge, anyway, so getting bridged made the decision that much easier.

My D is currently in the bridge. She bridged with a 4.2 weighted and 26 on ACT instate. She is on track to bridge over in the fall. Her experience had been good. She enjoys everything about it and was part of the tigers marching band. I would advise not to ponder too long last year Bridge filled up in 5days!!!

@newkid1900 , what’s your daughter’s major? Thanks for the info

@kaylamissy She chose computer engineering. The Bridge letter accepted her as general engineering.

I got a 21 ACT and a 3.75 weighted gpa instate. Surprised that I even got bridged but I also have family members that attended Clemson. I also got into USC so I am probably going to go there.

@aliak123 What was your selected major?

@SCLADY12 it was exercise science

I was bridged - out of state, 1440 SAT, 31 ACT, 3.1 GPA. i’m going to go, because it’s considerably cheaper the first year and a good path to clemson.

My daughter is bridged as well. We are OOS her SAT 1400, ACT 26 Her GPA 3.6 She qualifies for Hope Scholarship but she wants to go to Clemson, she will be considered a legacy.
