I'll never smoke... cigarettes at least

"I looove the smell of cigarette smoke, I stand next to anyone who smokes just to smell it. And sometimes I do it so that the smel can stick to my clothes so I can **** off my parents(but I don't do it often)."

OVB:

"wow stuck-on-1700. Actually I shouldn't be surprised, your name says it all LMAO"

--Just incase you missed it :p

"I'm 14, I've tried a cuban cigar with friends, and I have no inclination to smoke anymore."

haha, you think people are addicted to cigars? nah, only the really heavy users. Cigars are more of a taste thing you dont even inhale it. I'm an athlete, and I play for my college, but every once in a while I enjoy a cigar

Point is, the entire experience was just "meh." to me. I don't really plan on trying cigarettes since the supposed cream of the tobacco crop wasn't all that great.

Marijuana is much less addictive and detrimental than tobacco, but the government/media is all against marijuana. There's a societal rampart against marijuana in the US because of the already prevalent tobacco industry. That's why marijuana is illegal and tobacco isn't.

yeah seriously. if the tobacco companies weren't so powerful and if marijuana had a profitable lobby then it would be legal

Marijuana isn't even that bad. It really should be legal. Especially medicinal marijuana.

Medicinal marijuana should be legal.

I don't think marijuana is worse then cigarettes, but I don't think that it (for recreational purposes) should be legal either. Just imagine people driving around holding blunts out the window instead of cigarettes, I know I wouldn't be very comfortable driving down the street next to a bunch of high people.

First of all, OVB! I don't see how my name "says it all" they are completely unrelared. stuck on 1700 and stick to my clothes have no connection whatsoever.

2nd, alannancp! I think that anyone with with eyes and a brain could see the two post and be able to read them, so you're post was useless.

Ah yes, but was it really useless?

what is that supposed to mean? YES it was!!

Well, there would be the same laws against driving under the influence of marijuana as there are laws against driving under the influence of alcohol, wouldn't there?

I didn't know that Marijuana had an "influence". I just thought it made people puke.

me.duh,
Most likely, I was beginning to realize that as I typed. But nonetheless, I wouldn't want to be around a bunch of red-eyed high people. There are enough already.

Would you like to see an age requirement of 18, or what?

hahaa, stuck on 1700, how naïve you are.

California NORML Research Report
Driving Studies Show Limited Accident Risk from Marijuana
by Dale Gieringer, Ph.D. - Coordinator California NORML

Scientific studies on marijuana and driving fail to support the notion that marijuana poses a significant public highway safety hazard, according to evidence compiled by NORML.

In particular, the evidence fails to support proposals by marijuana opponents to impose tough new "zero-tolerance" standards for driving under the influence of marijuana or to disallow on-site use in medical cannabis clubs out of fear for driving safety.

In general, the evidence shows that marijuana is a lesser traffic hazard than alcohol or other drugs. Marijuana appears to be most dangerous in high doses, or when combined with alcohol. On the other hand, drivers with lower levels of marijuana have been found to be no more dangerous, and in some cases arguably safer, than other drivers.

At low levels, some drivers may be more safe because they are worried about being impaired and thus pay more attention. People I know say they are better drivers when high. But my smoking days were pretty much before I could drive, so I can't say for myself.
Still, some people get high really easily and others are just idiots when they're high, so it would be best to take some precautions.

that was kind of a joke post. NORML isn't really an unbiased source :D

I was wondering about the validity of it, but didn't care to check it out.

What's your take on legalizing marijuana, jimbob?

i think the government should be in charge of the distribution of marijuana to adults. basically, controlled legalization. keep the kids safe. keep our liberties intact. keep our jails from overflowing.
but don't hold me to that opinion. i'm afraid that if marijuana were legalized, people would smoke it in much larger quantities, which would not be a good thing. smoking anything in large quantities is bad for you, and since marijuana would go off the black market, an increase in availability and a decrease in price (to say nothing about legitimization) would guarantee greater use. perhaps the government could artificially maintain prices at high levels to deter excessive use, while not forcing a hard-and-fast decision on independent adults.

I like your thinking.

Legalization often sounds good in theory, but I know that if it weren't for the fact that it's illegal, I would likely be smoking it to this day.

yeah it really does sound good in theory but then when you think about it you realize that if marijuana were legalized, people would be smoking "packs" of marijuana at a time, which would be terrible for your health....of course, selling marijuana in small amounts for high prices would probably solve that problem...after all, marijuana is so expensive now that smoking a pack of joints would really be crazy expensive :D
