I’m new in college confidential so forgive me if I’m posting in the wrong board. I am currently a student attending community college looking to transfer to a 4-year university.
I want to major in illustration but the problem is that my search for universities has been problematic since none of the people around me know about art schools or colleges that offer that kind of program. I tried to get help from the advisors around campus but they were not very helpful. I am aware that there are good schools out of state but I want to stay in Texas due to financial and personal reasons. Does anyone know if there are schools in Texas that offer illustration majors? (my goal to be able to make Graphic Novels in the future).
I’m not an expert, but I think you want to search for programs in design and applied arts. Many Texas colleges and universities have these programs.
Hi! Under the “College Majors” section of the forum there is a separate sub-forum on “Visual Arts and Film Majors” - - I bet if you also post the question there that you will get a bunch of replies. Good luck!
St. Edwards in Austin - here’s a profile of a professor who among other things has undertaken a graphic novel as a project. https://www.stedwards.edu/articles/stories/2015/12/hollis-hammonds-mfa
@ineedcollegehlp - any progress made on your transfer decision? Again, I recommend St. Ed’s. Austin has a funky, artsy vibe and professor Hammonds sounds like an ideal mentor. https://www.stedwards.edu/undergraduate/art
@ChillDad Hi! Thanks for your help. I know I am very late. I actually made the decision of doing studio art instead of illustration.
