I graduated HS in 2010. Got my diploma and everything but life took over and college got put on the back burner. Now my life is somewhat in order, I want to try college. But I have no idea where to start or who to talk to. I did fill out the Fafsa but I’m stuck on the next step. Someone please help.
How well did you do in high school?
Did you take any college courses after high school graduation?
What state do you live in?
What work, military service, or other activity were you doing since high school graduation?
Did you take the SAT or ACT when you were in high school? Do you know what those scores were?
What do you want to study in college? Why do you want to study that?
How much can you afford to pay each year? Has anyone else (spouse, parents, etc.) committed to help you pay for your education? How much can that person chip in?
One place to get some general information, would be your local community college. Talk with the counselors there. They will have some ideas for you. You also can visit the closest public university in your state, and have a chat with the admissions counselors who work with non-traditional age students like you.
Wishing you all the best!
Can you live with parents and commute to college?
What state are you in?
What majors interest you?
Will your family help pay for college?
