im aiming for art = i think im in the wrong school?

im currently a freshman at u. of washington - seattle. the main problem i had in HS was that i liked both science and art, so i was just going around looking for schools that offered a wide range of studies. basically, i was indecisive. i eventually decided on u. of washington>> its been about a quarter and a half since ive been here, and im now set on art. im not sure what kind of art - architecture/design/industrial/etc.? i just know that its not going to be fine arts>>

the thing is, recently ive been starting to feel more and more distressed by the fact that im not hearing anything good in terms of art education in this school. actually, just from talking with people over time, surfing the web from time to time, etc. (I don't have quite enough concrete information yet) im actually hearing quite the opposite - art at UW in one word, is terrible. im worried that if this is actually true, it will hurt me in the future in terms of getting into a good graduate school, chances for a job, good education, etc.

should i start looking into transfering? does anyone know more detail about the UW's art program by any chance? (yes, i know i could try asking counselors/teachers/etc. but for the time being im posting here) or has anyone experienced a similar problem? any input would be helpful - thanks>>

If it makes you feel any better my daughter was looking at applying to UW as an art major. We have actually heard good things about the program and thought that the facilities looked pretty nice! Also, we were impressed with some of the student work we saw. It is listed as one of the top schools for undergrad studio art in the Gourman rankings....
Also, one of the things my daughter liked was the way the art building is in a prominent location on campus....in some cases art seemed like an afterthought and was relegated to the back parking areas or old nasty buildings. LOL
Good luck with your decision. Maybe you will hear from some current or former UW art students.
