I’m an international student and sadly most competitions are only for US citizens or green card holders only. What are some extra curricular that I can do to get enriched and at the same time increase my change of acceptance?
@LarrySLyu:
There is no checklist such that if you followed it, your chances would be increased.
Rather, take a look at Chris Peterson’s blog on how to get into MIT.
That blog is at http://mitadmissions.org/blogs/entry/applying_sideways
@LarrySLyu What do you want to do?
Admission for Internationals is very competitive. There are a lot of international olympiads you “can” participate in. However to qualify and do well, you most likely are passionate about doing them, and have some sort of talent @ it because they are not easy. But here they are:
IMO, IPhO, IChO, IOI, IBO

May like to go through these learner stories published on edX blog:

Forcing yourself into an extracurricular activity just because you want to get admitted to a college is bad. You should choose your ECs from your heart (an EC activity which you would love to do).
I believe that the admission officers prefer someone who is really good at one EC activity than someone who is bad in a gazillion EC activities.
