I'm choosing Notre Dame over USC but I'm afraid that I'll regret it

Ahhhh I’m freaking out. Please help me fall in love with Notre Dame and hate USC. I need some clarity.

not to be that guy, but maybe that’s your gut telling you that you shouldn’t make your decision just yet… lol.

@kalons Okay but I need help making this decision.

@GoIrish2022 Do you have any questions? I’m a current freshman at ND and I’d love to help in any way that I can

Uh yea lol not to like make any assumptions about you or to be that person, but if you need help falling in love with ND and hating USC maybe don’t choose ND?

No need to decide yet. If you are unsure, don’t accept. You have until May 1.

Perhaps if you give a little more background info people would be better able to offer advice. Your question sounds like you like USC more than ND, so one might think the answer is to go to USC. I’m guessing it’s not that simple. Is there more to the story? Do you like them equally and are torn between the two (and need convincing on either end)? Is financial aid more at one school than the other? Is weather/distance/campus an issue?

@JDprospy I was accepted RD to Notre Dame. Can you explain the social scene?

@GigixMeow, here is a previous thread about that: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/university-notre-dame/2056251-party-social-life-at-notre-dame.html#latest

@GigixMeow Congratulations! You should be so proud of yourself.

What I have seen regarding the social scene at ND is that there is a pretty healthy balance between work and fun. On any given night, there’s always someone to go out with and someone to stay in with. My experience has been that most everyone forms a friend circle that has its own social habits. I know some people who prefer to stay in and do homework, relax, etc on the weekends and others who will go out to clubs and bars on a Monday night.

Let me know if that answered your question or if there’s something specific you’re wondering about!

From an academic perspective there is no bad choice here. Both are very good universities. If I were a hiring manager with a resume from each school, then I would treat both pretty much equally and look for other ways to decide.

How do the finances compare from each school? Would one require larger loans, or would one put more financial stress on your parents? I don’t think that either is worth significantly more money compared to the other.

If the cost is the same, then you can start looking at other issues. Do both have good programs in your likely major? Which is closer to home? If you go to university and live on campus and are only located 5 miles from home, it will still feel like an entirely different world compared to living at home.

“help me fall in love with Notre Dame and hate USC.”

They are both very good schools. I don’t see how any of us can badmouth either of them in general. What is best for you is something that we can’t say without more information.

Still unclear what the OP is looking for…
