smarts1 - there are a ton of other writing/literature/etc classes here that you can take. I don’t know what exactly meets that requirement, but you’ll certainly have a variety of choices.

How many people usually major in Biology and how many classes are there for introductory bio? Do all the bio majors sit in one room and take classes? I ask this because a lot of kids from my high school are going to NYU and I wonder if I will be in a class with them.

pumpfake - I have NO idea how many people major in Bio, sorry. But you definitely will not be taking every class with the exact same people. This is especially the case because, within the basic requirements of the department, you get to choose which classes to take, what time to take them, which professors, etc. It’s not just all the bio majors sitting in the same lecture hall every day.

So while you’ll probably run into someone if they have the same major as you, and might be in some classes together, you’re definitely not stuck with them all the time.

@nyu2010grad why did you decide not to transfer? What held you back from applying to a different school? I am thinking of transferring (most likely barnard, that is, if I am accepted) but I’m a little skeptical and nervous about moving to such a different college (huge, populated university to a small women’s college). What made you glad that you didn’t transfer out? Thank you
