I absolutely love musical theatre. I have been in about 3 musicals and I'm in a play now. It's just something I love. I'm just not sure if that's the right path for me. Most schools are so competitive because they don't take in many students!

I was thinking of majoring in Psychology and minoring in musical theatre or theatre if I can't get in for musical theatre as a major.

What can a BA in Psychology do for me?

BA in psychology doesn’t really do much for you in terms of job outlook, but if you go to to graduate school and get a masters or phd for your psych degree, you will be MUCH better off. Do you have any sort of interest in the psych field? Becoming a psychologist/psychiatrist/psych professor/psych researcher/etc?

I have a friend who’s a psych major and business minor, and she works for the film industries, but she plans on furthering her education by going to grad school to get a phd for psych.

You seem to be much more passionate about musical theatre though, I hope you can get into your college with a musical theatre degree ^^.

Well i’m not SUPER EXCITED about psychology. But I feel like it’s good for me. I like helping people in anyway I can. I’m a great listener and the peacemaker of my friends. So I felt like I could possibly do well in psychology because I like finding out what’s on people’s minds, how they react, how they’re feeling, etc.

Is that not a good enough reason? I’m not sure. =/

^^^A lot of people major in psych for that reason, but get turned off pretty quickly when they have to learn all the statistical methods…

^what he said is true. But if that isn’t the case for you, then you should really research on a psychology program at a university. Will you be prepared to take the science and stats classes it requires? Also based on what you said, seems like you are interested in becoming a clinical or counseling psychologist. You definitely need to go to graduate school for those. Just a warning, TONS of people that chose psychology as a major with the reasons you gave usually ends up changing majors. I suggest you research on the major and see if you will really like it or not. If you do like it, then work hard because psych grad school is one of the most competitive grad schools out there.

Good luck ^^!

Yeah see, that’s why I was kind of on the wire with psychology because i’m not exactly sure if that’s what I want.
