I'm thinking about skipping the Physics course at my High School...

and taking a calculus based Physics course at the local community college.
The only physics courses they offer at my school are algebra based. Will I be at a disadvantage if I don't know anything about basic mechanics?

Kind of, since the calculus-based Physics (aka AP Physics C) is a more in depth look into the algebra-based Physics (AP Physics B). It builds up on the concepts from Physics B.

Well, here's the course description. Physics is not mentioned explicitly as a requirement.
Teaches principles of classical and modern physics. Includes mechanics, wave phenomena, heat, electricity, magnetism, relativity, and nuclear physics. Prerequisite for PHY 241: MTH 173 or MTH 273 or divisional approval. Prerequisite for PHY 242: MTH 174 or divisional approval. Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.
