^^ While the Common Application requires students to type their essay into a text box, as does the Harvard short essay about an extracurricular activity, Harvard’s optional supplemental essay allows for a document to be uploaded. So, you could include a diagram in your Harvard supplemental essay and upload it as a pdf.
