Single choice early action is not the same as early decision, duh!
The family may file a 1040A tax return. Thatās automatic zero EFC and Pell eligible. A family of 6 can earn $59,145 and be eligible for reduced-price school lunch. Again, automatic zero EFC.
xiggi I did pay close attention to what you said Lots of SCEA kids do apply to other schools just to keep their options open. Things can come up to make them change their minds I do agree that applying to all 8 may be a little ridiculous but applying to 4 or 5 others could certainly be reasonable. It should be about fit and sometimes you dont know that until the end of April. That is smart decision making on the part of the kids
Obviously not! Duh! There is an inherent impossibility to be both an ED or a QB successful applicant and ā¦ being heralded as the subjects in this thread. I think all of us know that!
But again and again, this not about keeping a couple of Ivies in the running until May or adding a few schools. It is about getting into your SCEA school and still pursuing an entire collection of schools.
I understand the curiosity part ā¦ and it is something that CM students at QB would like to change.
Harold Ekeh might not be low income because he has two working parents (though they appear to be working blue collar jobs), but the family has 5 children, which is a consideration. The midwest student (name escapes me right now) had a single parent and she was working as a housecleaner.
All that aside, I am not totally convinced that a couple of these all-Ivy applicants were merely trophy hunting. While I would never advocate applying to all 8 Ivies and consider fit to be the most important criteria for an applicant, I can somewhat understand that an immigrant, whose family has not been college educated and who is seeking a ābetter educationā for their children, might look to what are the most renown schools as their ticket to that better education. Their viewpoint may be different than some of us here who are more well versed on colleges. They may not care as much as to which college, but more to attending one of the so-called ābest colleges.ā I donāt think they were seeking ātrophiesā or 8 acceptances and doubted that they would ever receive all 8, but they wanted to increase the odds of getting into one of these schools which are ones they may know more about or think equates to getting that ābetter educational opportunity in the US.ā I just think they are approaching things from a different lens than most of us would be doing. So, I canāt relate to it, but I can fathom and somewhat understand it in these cases. Thus, I applaud them on their achievements, even if their approach or goals are not ones I would choose myself.
Another student gains admission to all the Ivies.
