I am the parent of a child applying for prep schools in Mass. He is a great athlete, the coaches are very interested and involved in the admission process. Straight A student with great recommendations. About to take ISEE. How important is scoring well on ISEE? Is the ISEE a make or brake with the other factors taken into consideration?

The higher the school’s average test score, the more that factor will weigh in the admissions decision.

A school may cut an applicant considerable slack on test scores, if that student fullfills some attribute that the school covets: elite talent/athletic ability; geographic or racial diversity; “development case” (i.e. big donor) and/ or celebrity last name
