Importance of SSAT essay?

I'm taking it tomorrow and i'm pretty nervous...
Anyone have tips if I get a topic I have no idea about??

thanks!

First off: good luck!

I’m taking the SSAT tomorrow also, so I can’t speak from experience, but in my review books (Kaplan and Princeton) the topics have been very general and allow you to interpret the question how you want to. What I have heard is that the essay is to make sure you are the same person who writes your application essays. Basically, I think what schools are looking for is basic coherence in your essay and having a clear yes/no position with examples.

Again-good luck tomorrow!

ahhh!
Okay thanks!

Verbal is tough too :frowning: !

A tip for verbal-if you are still worried just go over the basic prefixes/suffixes. It really helped calm me down and stops that overwhelming feeling that you have 1000+ words to learn- you don’t!

Just know that even if you miss 10 (or more) on verbal, you can still get a really good score individually.

Also taking it tomorrow! xD So…good luck!

I think the essay is important but you don’t have to do absolutely amazing. Just express your view in a clear and coherent way. The boarding school classroom environment values creativity in discussion so they might care–i don’t know, though.
