This is for people who were accepted into boarding schools last year and earlier, how did yall recieve your acceptance?? Email, online account, mail? Thanks in advance!!!!

I have not been accepted to or completed the application process, but I remember reading that it varies by school. I think Andover notifies people via Fed Ex, Exeter by email, Middlesex by their website, and Groton through their website. If anyone else knows definitively how these schools notified people they can correct me.

Thanks(: I just wanted to see if I should bother waking up early March 10 (:

Depends on the school. A few I applied to had an online account you could log into. Others sent emails. I believe all of them sent mail, but that took a few days. I personally didn’t stay up all night, I had the biggests test of the year the next day and it just wasn’t a good idea. It’s the same to check in the morning, plus some schools don’t release the results till the morning anyway because they’re aware some students stay up.

Does that mean thick mail= acceptance and thin mail= rejection?

There was a thread last year that listed the times many schools announced decision and by what means. I searched for it for you guys, but couldn’t find it…sorry :(

Maybe someone from last year remembers the title of that thread?

^ I searched also but couldn’t find it either.

All I know are the schools I applied to last year:

Andover - Mail only
Choate - GoChoate website at 3:30 PM
Exeter - E-mail to parents around 6:00 AM
Middlesex - Decision Website at 9:00 AM
SPS - Decision Website at 6:00 AM

Ugh what about the Hotchkiss School, March 10 is so far away!!! D:

actually it’s not as far as it seems.

I applied to Hotchkiss last year. I remember they posted results online at 5 PM.

I have a plan for March 10th. My parents say I can stay home from school that day so I’m gonna probably stay home. (Unless I have a major test or something) But I’m not going to open any decision letters/check any decision websites until the END of the day and I have a few decisions available to me. I don’t want to spend the whole day worrying just because the first school that I received a decision from rejected me. Anyone else have any plans for March 10th?

For the schools that notify via courier, note that the exact day will vary depending on your location.

Exeter = email on March 10.

Thick mail can still mean rejection, as the school might send you information for their summer program or something with the rejection. (This happened to me!)

Deerfield Academy -snail mail only last year. (March 12th in the midwest)

Exeter was e-mail that ended up in the junk mail folder on March 10. Package came 3-4 days later.
