I will be taking Russian Language courses at Wesleyan University (CT) my junior and senior year of highchool. Would colleges be impressed by this or just look at is as "just another" AP course. I don't plan on attending an Ivy or any school better than Wesleyan itself. Just wondering, if you have any advice it would be strongly appriciated.

ps: besides these Russian courses I'm only a A- student ranked in the mere 20% of my class.

They'll be impressed... not SHOCKED or anything, but impressed. Are you taking it through your high school (as in, are you getting credit for it)? I took Spanish I and II at a university MUCH less prestigious than Wesleyan (mine was just a step above a community college), but it wasn't for school credit... just because I felt like it. =P

I'd think that taking college level Russian Language courses would set you apart from other applicants. Not only that, but a glowing letter of rec from your Russian prof would probably work in your favor.

You could probably make your interest in Russian Language your hook if you set up some sort of community service project involving aid to Russia.

Yes, the courses count for school credits. The college offers the chance to highschools around the nearby area, I'm not entirely informed on the situation yet, seeing that it is still early in the year. Thanks for inputs
