@romalex4 Clash of the Halls is a week-long competition between the halls, right before spring break. Each hall is assigned a color and then chooses a theme and incorporates that theme into everything they do. There are a lot of different smaller games, and points are awarded based on the outcomes of each. So, for instance, there’s hall painting, drill team, obstacle course, cake decorating, etc. It’s really fun!
Nerves!
Are the acceptance letters different than the rejection letters? Can we tell by the envelope?!
Hey guys! I’m applying for the class of 2020, and when I saw that email that they are in the final selection phase, my heart almost jumped out of my mouth, haha.
I just wanna wish you all good luck. Try to relax and remember that even if you don’t get in, it doesn’t mean your future is gone. In fact, getting rejected will make you stronger since it’ll inspire you to work harder.
Does anyone know when letters come out?
Thanks.
Also- Are any of your guys’ math scores on the SAT WAY higher than your reading scores? Because that would be me.
Hopefully IMSA doesn’t care too much about reading as much as math… Hopefully. I am also as nervous as all of you
@rma2002 I check my emails about every hour for one from IMSA! I think this one was a little boring compared to the last one. My math score is 40 points higher than reading, although it is not that much it is different. Also, admission letters are sent May 1st so depending on where you live it may get in faster or slower. Good luck to you too!
Thanks! It’s quite funny. The other threads are on page 90 by now, but we are only at 20
Let’s switch up a subject and make it less tense. Is anyone going to ICTM state? This forum is probably full of geniuses so it would be cool to know if any of you guys are going there. Almost two weeks away!
@rma2002 our school does not have a math team… no robotics club as well… Good luck to you in this competition!
Also, I want to share with you guys that my guts keep telling me: "there are probably less applicants this year! you might get in!.. but my head is telling to my guts: “Shut up, you stupid guts! You have a measurable chance to get in anyway, so relax and do you guts stuff and stop thinking about IMSA every day!..”
I am assuming, our destiny is already almost decided and the admissions just working on writing nice encouraging mails to people whom they rejected and waitlisted… wording each mail individually… starting like: “it was very competitive this year… bla bla bla…”
Good luck again to everyone here!
Thanks javascript! No stalker or anything- May I ask what region you are from? I am from Northern Illinois, near Waukegan.
I thought there would be a lot more people on here… But yeah it’s kind of weird to see so little.
javascript you have a really good chance, just know that. If you applied 8th grade year they’ll definitely take you more seriously. They can note how much you’ve improved and just applying 8th grade shows your interest in the school.
That’s my take on it.
@rma2002 I guess I am also in the Northern Illinois but I am about 3 hours away from Aurora… kind of in the middle of nowhere…
@rma2002 hahaha my school’s math team isn’t great and i didn’t quite qualify on my own. And @javascript are you joking? I would guess they send the same rejection/application letters to everybody. I don’t really know though.
Ah ok. Well hopefully you can qualify through the IMSA team when you make it!
Many of you guys seem to come from schools that you aren’t satisfied with.
I would say this probably applies to me as well. My reason for going to IMSA is because I feel I am getting more relaxed at my school… I don’t want to come across as a bragger, but I don’t feel challenged enough. I know how good everyone else is in Naperville, IMSA and Neuqua and so on. Here I am sitting in my less competitive school, thinking I’m the best in the world. That’s what happens when you aren’t challenged, I guess. IMSA is like a snap back to reality, when I see how good everyone else is.
@balloony I am not 100% positive…, I know some colleges writing customized letters. You might be right, they do not spend extra time on rejected people, may be only on waitlisted… to keep them interested to stay on a wait list.
Anybody here will be taking AP exams in May?
@javascript yes! I am taking the AP World History test. Honestly I need to get more on top of studying for it.
@balloony I am taking AP Physics, AP Statistics and AP Phycology… Physics is my favorite thought…
@javascript I’m taking a statistics class over the summer that would help me with AP testing, and I will get to take AP Physics junior year and I might as well not rush it. Good luck on the tests!
How are you all taking AP tests
My school doesn’t allow freshmen to take AP classes
Good luck to you guys!
@rma2002 it is the first year freshmen are taking AP tests and honestly it is horrible. Like I’m doing decently in the class but I think the average class grade is a C. I would not recommend continuing this class but the school is anyway.
@rma2002 I am the only freshman taking AP classes in my school. I am just sitting in classes with seniors…
Even though I knew that freshmen do not take AP classes in my school, I decided to ask my counselor if I could, thinking that he would say:
“Hell No!!!”;
however, he said “YES, take it, it is your funeral”.
So I signed up for 3 classes… Not 100% sure if I would do it again…
Well, since I am already involved in this, I am fighting till the end. <:-P
@balloony good luck to you too!
Guyz, does anyone know about their athletics department? Since they dont offer a variety if sports, do you think they’ll let you can join teams from your old school? I think so, but im not 100% sure. Btws letters are comming in about a week, im so excited!!
