IN LOVE

Hi!
I just toured Dickinson yesterday and I’m IN LOVE! I didn’t want to leave! It felt like this was the one.
I’m a junior in high school so I’ve still got time, but I can’t imagine myself anywhere else at this point.
So, are there an Dickinson students/parents/alumni who can say anything about the school? What did you like and dislike? How is the food (I’m a vegetarian with celiac disease (no gluten))? What are the students like? Are they generous with financial aid? What’s there to do on the weekends? Those are just some questions but any info is greatly appreciated!!

You should run the net price calculator on the Dickinson website to see how the financial aid looks for you.

My kid did a lot of activities on campus on weekends – movies, speakers on campus, club activities. She hung out with her friends. There are movies and shows at a theater near campus. There are parties for those who are looking for them, but my kid didn’t really partake, which was fine. Occasionally she would go off campus with a friend, I know her swing dance club went to DC one weekend for an event with other clubs. She did study some on the weekends, too.

There is a pretty nice mix of students. A lot from the east coast, but not all (my D was from the Midwest). Quite a few international students. There are some kids into sports, some not so much. Some join Greek life, but the majority don’t.

I think the campus could have gotten a little small for my D, but they have great study abroad and study off campus experiences that she took advantage of. One that might work well for you is the Washington Semester, because you live in a nice apartment and cook for yourself. I can’t speak to the food options, my kid liked the food, but she didn’t have any restrictions to work around.

Have you got access to a Fiske Guide to Colleges? They have a nice write up, see if your GC has it.
