Do JHU admittance rates show a preference for in state students?

No, there is no preference for Maryland residents. Typically, about 15 % of the Freshman class will be from Maryland.

One possible exception to the above is if you a graduating from a public high school in Baltimore. Under the Baltimore Scholars program, students accepted from Baltimore Public Schools get full tuition waivers, and participate in special programs. Most of these students are minority students.

To be an applicant within Baltimore CITY (not county, nor MD state) lends an air of help to ones success of acceptance. Outside of that, not so much.

Just to clarify… The Baltimore Scholars Program is for Baltimore City Students only, NOT Baltimore County.
