Like i said.....in such a big mess, where do i even begin? I had financial aid semester 1 of freshman year, then i got a D in math, took it again next semester, got an F. Got on financial aid ( FA) warning. Took it in the summer, got a B. Completion rate not complete=financial aid gone for fall semester. Somehow managed in fall semester but i need a little more than 3,000 dollars for spring. I
m 19, my parents dont know and for them to know is OUT OF THE QUESTION ,cant even be considered. So my parents dont know,i need 3000 dollars, ive had no credit history no nothing,no financial aid and i need 3000 dollars. Im thinkin loans. After searching and searching and searching i found a no-interest program for loans but they need tax forms and stuff which i dont have and dont wanna risk using my parents for they might find out. I want to get an SUBSIDIZED stafford loan (paying no intrest until after grad) but you need to be eleigible for FA for that. I
m eligible i guess....but it just got taken away. I`m thinkin UNsubsdized loan which means alot of interest every month till i graduate.

Point of this story? what do i do??Interest is against my religion and me and my family are having super money issues. But still if i even have to pay 50 dollars per month. Thats fine with me. I just dont want to deal with interest. I dont know what to do. I need so much help. I cant eat, i cant sleep, i cant think. This predicament is eating me alive! advice? suggestion? Do banks give stafford loans out?

Stafford loans are federal loans. You can’t just go to a bank and get one.

You may need to ask your school for a semester break so that you can work and earn the money.

You can’t get a loan without your parents cosigning, unless it’s a federal loan thru FAFSA.

The stafford, Direct Loan is a student loan that does not require a cosigner. However, you have to meet satisfactory academic progress to get one of these loans. If you have not met your schools Satisfactory Academic Progress criteria, you cannot take out any kind of Direct Loan…subsidized or unsubsidized. You need to talk to your university about how to get out of this hole academically.

Who is paying the balance of your college costs? In our house, the bill didn’t get paid until we saw the grades.

When you retook the course, did you think the grade would replace the D and F? What were your other grades?

I would strongly suggest you talk to your parents, especially if they are paying for your college education. Actually you really should talk to them anyway. The reality is that you cannot take out loans in your own name if you can’t get a Direct Loan.

Ways to pay for college:

(1) Pay the full cost (from family funds)
(2) Receive merit scholarships
(3) Receive need-based financial aid (institutional grants, federal grants, federal student loans)
(4) Private parent loans
(5) Private student loans (requires adult cosigner)
(6) Get a job!

It looks like the ONLY one of these that’s an option for you is #6 - and even that’s going to be challenging without parent support. The most efficient way to earn money for college is to keep your living expenses down. Ideally, you’d do that by living at home while you work.

If you want or need to do this entirely on your own, without parental support, it will be challenging, and it may take longer than you’d like, but it’s not impossible.
