Hi,

I'm Bart and I'm an international student. In my high-school I'm enrolled in the bilingual department which means that in my first three (out of 6) years, half my subjects were taught in English. At the end of the coming year I am to graduate to the highest level of secondary education available in my country. Besides this I also expect to receive my IB A2 certificate because of the enrollment in the bilingual department.

Would this in any way affect my chance for admission?

That’s definitely a very high level achievement. Congratulations. But then again, many international students graduate at a high level. As long as you have high grades (which I assume) and high test scores as well, having a very high level of achievement can only help you in admissions. What I’m trying to say is, there is a lot to admissions in the USA, but you see to be on the right track.

Good luck.

Hi and thanks for your quick response!
Unfortunately the grades with which I graduated from 5th to 6th year weren’t high, if at all, above average. This due to having done the best I could all of last year, which I regret the most.
However, I do plan to graduate from high school with above average grades but I hardly think this would help me getting into a university as deadlines are set quite some time before my day of graduation.

Would you think planning to receive such a diploma in any way compensate for my not so excellent grades?

I’m currently busy with studying for the SAT which I expect to have above average results for.

What could I do, in my final year of high school, to improve my chances for getting into a noteworthy college?
