Hi. I will be attending City College next Fall 2018. I am currently a student at QCC and will be graduating at the end of this semester (Spring 2018). Before going back to school and entering QCC, I was working full time and was out of school. I left my job to go back to school and received financial aid for Fall 2017 and Spring 2018. However, because your FAFSA is now done with taxes from two years ago, I am using the taxes from when I was still working. This means, I wouldn’t receive financial aid because my taxes showed I got paid a good amount of money at my old job. I left this job to go back to school meaning I have to do an income appeal in the financial aid office so that I can get financial aid for Fall 2018.
Has anyone else gone through this process and if so, what advice can you give me? What documents would I need? I have a letter from my former employer stating when my job ended. What else do I need and what other advice or details about the process can you tell me?
Thank you!
