<p>Is this just federal income tax, or total income tax? </p>

<p>The little tip under the section says to look at line 55 of my tax form…That number however is like 100% off from our calculated income tax online…what gives?</p>
<p>Make sure you are aligning the tax forms correctly – Line 55 on a 1040 might be different than Line 55 on a 1040A. </p>
<p>They are asking for Federal Income Tax paid. Make your self a note and on all other problems that you resolve as you work through the FAFSA – throw it all in a file so you don’t have to re-figure each step a year from now.</p>
