Hi CC! I’m an incoming senior trying to narrow down my list of schools. My current list is Colorado College, Middlebury, Cornell, Hamilton, Carleton, Macalester, and UVM. Does anybody have any suggestions as to what schools could be matches/safties for me? Also, if you could give some insight to wether the schools I have right now are reaches/matches that would be great.
Some of my stats: GPA 3.9 (unweighted), 4.58 (weighted), 1500 newSAT (770M 730CR), SAT II (Math 1- 710, Math 2- 730, will take French in October), took 1 AP 10th grade, 3 APs 11th grade, and taking 6 this year. NHS (Jr Officer 11th grade, Sr Officer 12th grade), Chamber Choir (Council member), Music Honor Society, French National Honor Society, Student Council (elected class officer), part-time job, and more I might be forgetting.
Your gender will matter with these schools with respect to admissions:
Cornell: more (statistically) difficult for males
Carleton: more difficult for females
Hamilton: neutral
Macalester: neutral
Middlebury: more difficult for females
Colorado College: neutral
UVM: NA
Irrespective of your gender, I’d be surprised if you didn’t get into UVM (which would be an admissions safety) and at least two others from your current group.
St. Lawrence and Denison would be schools to research should you want some safer admissions bets.
@blackseptember : You have reason to feel comfortably prepared for your next stage considering your excellent academic credentials. Wherever you apply, you will be viewed as a qualified candidate.
Do you mean Cornell University in NY or Cornell College in Iowa? Cornell College (IA) is also on the block plan (like CC) and would be a good admissions safety, I think.
