Incorrect Grade Level in Score Report

We live in India. My son took the January 2017 SAT (international) and I signed him up again for the May SAT. Unfortunately I forgot to change his grade level from 11 to 12 while re-registering and noticed it only last week while taking a print out of the admission ticket. The system would not let me change it, even though the last date for making changes had not pased. The admission ticket does not have the grade level information so there is no problem in taking the test. I called College Board last friday and asked if there would be any problems regarding score reporting. The lady seemed to think it would and she too tried to change the grade level but could not. She said she was sending a high priority mail to a case manager and I would get an email back in 3 to 4 business days. Needless to say, I have not received any emails. I called CB again and this time I was told there would be no problems with getting his scores as long as his other information (name, DOB, gender, high school code and registration number) were correct. They seemed to have no clue that I had logged in a complaint previously.

What I am worried about is that his score report will show an incorrect grade level if this is not corrected. Will that be a problem during college application time? Has anyone had any experience with this? It seems from discussions online that CB customer service is really bad. Would colleges accept an explanation from the student during the application process?

Thanks

I can’t imagine why it would matter. I mean, if they input your grade wrong on the PSAT during junior year, you don’t get considered for National Merit. But other than that…? I suspect the rep you spoke with really just wanted to help you get it fixed (and a higher-level person can probably do it), but I can’t see what the negative ramifications here would be.

I think it will only matter for their statistics. They might report the average score for 11th grade students or 12th year students. For your son, it will be his scores.

Sometimes 11th graders go right to college and use that score.

It shouldn’t matter. You might get recruiting material again next year from colleges, but all your transcripts, etc. will take care of the year in school.

I was able to get his grade level changed. Had to get a letter from the school and email it directly to a case manager who had emailed me. I still do not know if leaving the grade level as it was would matter. But glad that I was able to get it done! Thank you all for your feedback.
