Hello,

I was recently accepted to my top choice school. The scholarship they offered me is according to the first time I took the SAT. In November, I took the SAT and increased my M+CR 60 points and my overall 90 points. My guidance counselor sent my new scores after my acceptance. Do I contact my school's financial aid offices or would the school contact me when they receive my new scores? Also, am I able to somehow appeal for a higher merit?

Thank you!

Unless your scores were right on the bring of one financial increment to another, a 60 raise in SAT scores is probably not going to net you any significant increase in merit money.

Does your school give a breakdown of what you need to get a particular scholarship?

X gpa + Y SAT score for a certain amount of money.

What school is this? Is it Hofstra?

Did you already get a 17k per year award?

What is your old SAT breakdown and what is your new breakdown?

Sometimes a 60 pt increase in M+CR can make a difference IF the school has some kind of “stepped” merit.

As Sybbie says, it can depend on whether your old score was rather close to the brink of the next level.

It might also depend on whether this school offers guaranteed merit awards based on SAT/GPA, and your new GPA guarantees you a higher award.
