Increasing chances for Johns Hopkins?

I would love nothing more than to attend Johns Hopkins. As I am a young student, it is still early enough for me to add things to my resume, so I would appreciate suggestions that would make me a stronger applicant!

-Model United Nations, Treasurer (sophomore year) **Not sure if this is worth noting, but it was not founded until my sophomore year

VOLUNTEER WORK:

-50 other hours doing various other tasks in the community

MISC.

Bump Bump :D

Nice grades and class rank; they are the same as mine, actually. I had a 182 on my first psat, 204 on the second. So close to NMF… :(. Anyways, it’s too early to chance you. Get some REAL standardized testing scores and come back at the end of your junior year.

What do you intend to major in? No way to know if you are competitive without test scores. I assume that you will have backups- JHU is highly selective, and acceptance rates have been decreasing.

JHU: Aim for 2150+/32+

^^ Those scores are still below the 75th percentile mark for admitted students. A score of 34+ would help more.

You really need to show an academic passion in a particular area. I don’t see one. Your ECs look identical to those of 20% of other students in the US. You really need to show that you are better than 98% of students in the country to get into schools like JHU. Rise to the top in the ECs you are in, and do activities that would be considered more exclusive, prestigious, etc.

Could you try to do USABO, USAPhO, USAMO, etc.? Original research? If you are interested, intern somewhere.

What do you want to major in? What are your long term goals?

I want to become a neurosurgeon when I am older. I plan to volunteer at the hospital all summer.
