Hey, I have a few questions about Physics b for those who already took it. I have a pretty good stronghold in math (got a mid-A in pre-calc H without struggling and am currently taking calculus BC (so far im doing well)). Since my schedule is already full with 4 aps and other classes, I cannot accommodate for physics b. Note: never taken a physics class before.

1)Should I have any major problems with physics b if I'm pretty good in math?
2)What books do you recommend for studying?

I'm only currently taking it, but my friends who took it said that you're at a strong advantage if you're very good at math, especially pre-calc. The textbook I'm using right now is College Physics by Serway and Faughn, and it's not too bad. Hope this helps!

University Physics by Sears/Zemansky. Though it's much better if you know calculus; if you can't understand calculus symbols I'd suggest Physics by Giancoli.
And you may or may not be good at physics, depending on how you've learned math and other things. Good grades in math are necessary but not sufficient for good grades in physics.

that's true, and algebra-based books are typically easier to learn out of. but if you study at a higher level the test'll seem much easier, plus physics b contains a few calculus "concepts" (like they'll have you find the area under a trapezoid-shaped curve rather than a parabola), plus calculus-based books will prepare you for the olympiad if you're so inclined. my school uses a calculus-based book for physics b and the passing rate was >90%.

i've taken physics test, here is my opinion.

It's good that you are good in math, but that will only help you so far.
First section of AP test does not have many HARD, DEMANDING math problems, but more CONCEPTUAL problems.

Maybe in the second part there might be more math, but still, it's more concepts rather than nitty-gritty math.

Look at an AP book, read it, try it, see how it goes, you have until May, if you arent getting it, drop it or w.e, but if you are, go for it.
