I left home after becoming 18 because of an abusive and possibly life threatening situation at home. I am temporarily living with a friend, when he can let me sleep there, until he goes to college. I have had no support from my father for over 10 months and the only support I get is temporarily for housing and some food. I have a part time job since that’s all I could find and all of the money I get from it goes to car insurance and medical needs as a type 1 diabetic with no health insurance. I am trying to apply as an independent and possibly as homeless since I don’t have a steady place to sleep, and I was wondering if the foreclosure papers for my father’s house would help me convince the college that I’ve been accepted to that I’m homeless if not also independent.
Foreclosure papers for your dad will show a relationship with him…and will not support your claim of independent.
Have you been involved with child protective services when you were under 18? Any involvement perhaps with a school social worker?
OP- where do you live, and is there a HS counselor who knows your situation who can put you in touch with people who can help you?

Did you make the high school aware of your situation ?
