Independent Status, Living At Home, No Job

Hi,

so this year I turn 24, which as I know means an automatic shift to independent status. The thing is, I don't work, as I attend college full time, and live at home. I'm also transferring next fall to a new college. My question is, will this be a big no-no for the financial aid department, in that I'm labelled as independent on one hand, and have no income on the other? What kind of info might they ask for?

Thanks.

Your independent status will not be affected by your lack of employment. There are (sadly) a lot of unemployed folks filing for financial aid.

Nope. You are 24, the golden age, and you are independent regardless

-of what level of school you are at (grad or undergrad)
-of whether you live at home or on your own
-of how much money you make, if any
