Indiana-Bloomington vs Ohio State

What are the main differences?

Other than OSU being a little bigger, they're pretty much on a par with one another, however, it really depends on what you're planning to major in. Indiana is more known for having top business and music schools, for example. They also have a great Journalism program. I've read the average ACT of those admitted to OSU is a little higher than Indiana. Both campuses are beautiful, offer a great Big 10 experience and the type of kids are about the same.

Other than what you're planning to major in, it's really a matter of personal preference. DS kept getting pushed by his counsellor to apply to University of IL-Champaign and University of WI-Madison...two schools he wouldn't go to if you paid him. Ditto with Miami of OH. He quickly ruled out Purdue (best if you're going into engineering), and, once he did a little more research into MSU, quickly ruled out that school, as well.

What will you major in?

These are the two I'm debating between two..

But as a longtime resident of Columbus, I can tell you that OSU is a lot bigger, and a lot more urban. There is always SOMETHING going on in Cbus! Stats (gpa/sat) are a little higher for OSU..

OSU ewwwww

Can't get into this discussion. I grew up in Ann Arbor, lol.

i plan on majoring in finance and accounting. i'm also considering purdue! so yeah, osu vs indiana vs purdue.. thanks for all the comments so far everyone!

jl- if you want business then definitly go for Indiana. Kelley is a top business school, #11 I believe.

I'd say that Indiana and OSU are both among the best schools on your list for Finance.

thanks for the info guys.

i posted the same question in the purdue forum and the osu forum and i haven't received any replies yet.

i guess that says something about indiana univ.. hehe.

About stats - Indiana's admissions statistics will definitely be on the rise this year. They have received a significant increase in applications this year, meaning more selectivity, higher scores, etc.

A2Wolves, you keep saying that, but you really don't know how they'll be making their selections. And for what it's worth, all the schools we've talked to have mentioned they're getting a lot more applications this year.

well, i'm applying as a transfer student.. and those schools aren't getting any of my HS grades or SAT's.. haha.
