Industrial engineering and Applied math

I have found that Industrial engineering and Applied math(include statistics) are quite similar when compared from the courses taken. Which one you think is a better field for a BS degree? Which one has better outlook and more opportunity?

I think what you mean to say is that Applied Math and Operations Research (OR) are similar fields. OR is a branch of industrial engineering, and although I’m sure every IE program incorporates some OR - the level that you’ll cover in undergrad is probably not going to be extremely similar to an applied math degree. One popular thing to do is an applied math BS and an OR graduate degree. In any case, I’m kind of biased towards engineering degrees as opposed to math degrees, mainly because it seems like engineering students just have a much easier time finding jobs. I guess it really depends on what you want to do - if you plan to go to grad school I think an applied math undergrad will work just fine.
