Industrial Engineering or EE

I was admitted into Georgia Tech in December but I am having difficulty my major. Which of the 2 courses is better at Gatech? Also, is it true that Gatech is one of the best in the world for IE?

Georgia Tech (GT) is number one in the U.S.A. for Industrial Engineering.
They are in the top ten in the U.S. for all areas of engineering, I believe.

I believe they’re 5th for EE

Don’t get caught by the rankings so much. Find what interests in you best, and major in it.

IE and EE are both pretty good majors.

If you liked electrostatics and circuits in physics you will probably like electrical engineering. I can’t speak much for industrial engineering since I don’t really know what they do.

You can actually do a lot as an ISyE major (Industrial and Systems Engineering, so IE). You can do stuff related to supply chain management, analyze process capabilities, quality control. Those are I think what comes to mind when I think IE.

And it’s been said don’t get too caught up in rankings. Do what you want to do and tech is prestigious in both areas. EE is hard though from what I’ve heard.

I believe Industrial Engineering focuses more on the management side of engineering, but I’m not entirely sure. Electrical Engineering places a great emphasis on complex mathematics and electromagnetism. Basically if you’re a math wiz, EE is definitely the way to go.
