Tried to read thru some of the responses to your question.

Boston and New Jersey are not “close” at all- Boston is New England and New Jersey is Mid-Atlantic or tri-state. I can’t speak to any direct experience with NJ!
-
I can speak to generalizations of schools/reputations for private day and some boarding schools in metro Boston area, more specifically Boston proper, the towns/cities that are next to Boston like Newton, Cambridge, Brookline, etc and within the inner 128 area.

A solid resource would be to look at the Boston Magazine school rankings.
Happy to try to answer more questions if you are looking in Boston area, but honestly you want to spend your time trying to figure out what general area you want/can move to and then make additional inquiries based on that…
Happy holiday!

Look into Ascera(sp) in Winchester Mass for math and science.
Look into math offerings at
Nobles, Groton, Middlesex, BBN, Concord Academy
Tour Belmont High, Brookline High- for many too students the public schools offer excellent courses with incredible teachers.
Cambridge Rindge & Latin students that place out of Math can take courses at Harvard.

Do you have experience with Ascera? It was recommended that we look into it for our 2E son, but that was mostly because they could support him as both a gifted learner and one with a learning disability. I got the sense that the education was so individualized that it catered to “quirky” kids and might not be a good choice for someone looking for a more traditional school experience.
I’d add Worcester Academy and St. Marks to the above private list (would be commutable from towns that are sending towns to both AMSA and Mass Academy of Science at WPI so could be back ups)
For publics I’d add Lincoln-Sudbury, Acton, Newton, Andover and Lexington (not sending towns to AMSA)

I know of some great kids who are well rounded but have passion for math that went to Ascera. It’s small so the range of personas stand out a bit more.
