One of the essay questions is "Write about a person who has had a significant influence on you and describe that influence." I want to write an essay about two influential people (related to each other, of course). should I list my essay as "Topic of Your Choice" in the common app, or is it too close that I should stick with the "Significant Influence" essay choice and just write about one person instead?

anyone? bumppp

You can use both people and select the significant influence topic. I think the adcoms will understand.

A couple things to think about… essays are short so will you be watering down your content by trying to do too much by writing about two influential people rather than one? Also, the advice you most often hear about writing on this topic is that the essay still needs to be about you even though you are writing about someone else. That’s hard to do and I think it would be even harder using two people. The readers in admissions want to know about you, not so much who you are writing about.
