Influential Teacher

I was planning on writing an essay about my 11th grade Calculus teacher, and I was wondering, would I mention her name in the essay or not? She is also writing one of my recommendation letters.

The rough outline for the essay will be something like:

Introduction,

Mention how I found her way of teaching very interesting and effective.
Interesting teaching fostered a deeper passion for math and science, and actually influenced me to major in math in college. Previously saw math as something I was good at, but started to see the beauty of it, and decided to pursue in college.

Talk about how every test day, she would have all 40+ students tests graded and returned the next day. Mention a quote from her: "I don't claim to be smart, but I do claim to work hard." Taught me the meaning of hard work, and that if you persevered you could succeed at what you wanted to do.

Conclusion.(maybe along the lines of how her inspiration has been a factor in my tutoring others, which I really enjoy, and I hope one day to inspire others, as she has inspired me.)

How does that seem?

Also, I am using this for my NMS essay. Is it a problem that she's the one writing the only recommendation letter for NMS?

I think the essay is too much about her

^Agreed

The college wants to get to know you through the essay…while it’s great to talk about how a teacher influenced you, that influence shouldn’t be the focus of the essay.

I thought that the prompt was to talk about how they’ve influenced me?

So, I talked about my passion for math’s development, and how I learned the meaning of hard work. I plan to lead into how her inspiration led me to tutor others, and has developed my desire to help others, and foster passion for math and science in others.

If that’s too much about her, then how could I make it better?
