Info on Fraternities Needed

Can anyone give some insight into Sigma Nu or Kappa Alpha? Costs, GPA, general feel and experience, etc…

KA and Sigma Nu are “Old Row” fraternities, meaning they are among the earliest to have been found at Alabama. Both are located on University Avenue.

KA will be moving into a new house this semester, the largest on campus, meaning their dues will probably be higher than Sigma Nu’s by a decent margin.

Both are excellent fraternities with great alumni networks. KA has a very strong reputation as a country/redneck house. They hold a yearly party called “Old South” which has drawn rebukes for racism in the past which is perhaps unfair since most of the houses at UA are similarly fond of the “good old days.” Sigma Nu doesn’t have a similarly distinct “brand”, they are just a good house. Their house is very unique looking, it is the first house on the left coming from Publix.
