Info on Harvard?

If any current students of alumni could give me some insight into tuition, university events and organizations, or information on just how stringent the admission standards are for Harvard’s medical school, I would appreciate it very much. I live in the southern U.S. and I don’t even know where to begin looking into the requirements, contacts, curriculum, cost of off campus living, transferability of credits because of how far of a distance I currently live from Boston. I have also heard that if you are low income you qualify for Harvard college to take care of your financial aid.

What is your current situation? Are you a high school student, or a university student? What year are you in?

How do your grades compare with others in your school?

You can find most of the information you want, online, on the Harvard website.

Here is the financial aid page: https://college.harvard.edu/financial-aid

For families making $65k or less, Harvard is essentially free (there used to be a summer job contribution, but I don’t know if that still exists). From the site:

"For families with annual incomes below $65,000, the expected contribution is zero. Families with annual incomes between $65,000 and $150,000 will contribute between 0 and 10 percent of their income. Those with incomes above $150,000 will be asked to pay proportionately more than 10 percent based on their circumstances. "

Look up concentrations (majors) and gen eds for info on curriculum. 98% of undergrads live on campus. Cambridge is very expensive.

Are you a transfer student?

All the information you are asking about is a google search away. Here’s the financial aid info for Harvard’s med school. https://meded.hms.harvard.edu/Financial-aid

Make sure to understand that Harvard undergrad accepts very few transfers (if that’s your case)…15 of 1,528 were accepted, per the 2018/19 CDS. It’s likely that a not-insignificant proportion of admitted transfers are either athletes, legacies, and/or from 2-year schools that H has an established relationship with. https://oir.harvard.edu/common-data-set

A lot of the information you are looking for is quite basic. Spend time carefully going through the school’s website and google the common data set.
