Info on Univ of Pitt business school

My son has been accepted into University of Pittsburgh's business program (Finance) and we'd like to know if anyone who is in the program (or has been in the program) who would like to give their comments on it. He needs to choose between Indiana University (Bloomington), Bentley College, University of Pittsburgh, and Fordham University.

Also, we will be visiting in a week (from the West Coast), so I was wondering if there is a particular professor or class or building or point of interest in town, etc. that we should be visiting while there? Anything that helps in the college decision process, in other words.

Thanks for any help offered.

Are you meeting admissions people for an official visit?

No, is that possible? And, if so, should I meet with them? It would be nice to get info on the programs, housing, orientation issues, local community, meet with a business professor, etc. I've only been to Pittsburgh once before--and my son has never been there.

I would call the freshman admissions office and ask for a personal tour guide. They have a group of kids who do this, called Pitt Pathfinders. They give really good tours! You will see the dorms, academic buildings, library, cathedral, student union, etc. Maybe you could also arrange to meet with somebody in the business school while you are there and/or attend a class. I will try to organize some info for a visit and send it to you in a bit.

Too late for an edit, but I was just thinking that you could maybe request a Pitt Pathfinder tour guide who is a business major. Then you could get the inside scoop on the business school while you tour the campus.

You can meet with an admissions representative from the undergrad business school every day at 1:30 in the new Sennot Square building:

Daily campus tours are given daily at 10am and 2pm. You can also sample classes from this site:

Other off campus activites you may want to sample in Pittsburgh during your visit include:

Sports: You can see the Pittsburgh Pirates play at PNC Park all next week.

Museums: Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Scaife Art Gallery, Fort Pitt Museum, Heinz History Museum, Andy Warhol Museum

Carnegie Science Center: Floor displays as well as Omnimax movies, Buhl Planetarium star shows and laser shows, numerous live presentations and submarine tours, Sportsworks.

Pittsburgh Aviary

River tours on the Gateway Clipper Fleet

Shopping and Dining: Shadyside, Station Square, Downtown, Waterfront, suburban mall areas, casual dining in Oakland

I'm sure there are other things to do...maybe others will have something to add! Good luck with your visit!

My son was contacted just in the past few days by some Pitt Pathfinders. We're trying to arrange with them for a personal tour--and we'll probably try to attend one of the classes on the list you provided as well.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the link, lkf.

You're welcome! Hope it was helpful! :)
