Anyone know when they release semi-finals decisions? I’ve heard it’s been MLK day in the past, but that seems so soon since we submitted our apps at the beginning of the month. Well MLK day is today…
I don’t know the answer, but it appears the finalist weekend will be in March this year; in the past, it’s been in February, so semifinalist notifications could be later this year.
Just called and spoke to Ingram office they are expecting decisions to go out week of Feb. 5.
Well its the week of the 5th now. How are the finalists and those that do not get it usually notified? By email? Through the portal?
From past threads it looks like emails are sent either way, if you’re a semi-finalist or not. Good luck to all, please post here when you get an email!
When I called today they said that late February was when it would be announced. I’m not sure whom to believe…
Late February makes sense for finalists who have to make arrangements to come to Nashville by March 19, but seems late for notification of semifinalists.
@wstrav I’m fairly certain there are just finalists who are interviewed and then the recipients of the scholarship. We already gave them all of the information they need, so I don’t think that there is an intermediate phase between the general pool and the interviewed finalists. There is also no mention of such on Vanderbilt’s website, only finalists and then recipients.
@lsmgirly last year, there were semifinalists interviewed by phone, but it may be different this year. Anyhow, we’ll find out soon enough. Good luck!
Ok, after doing more research, I believe that whoever called and was told that we would would be notified this week was probably misinformed since the website says late February of 2017 is the notification date.
To my recollection the website did say that they would notify applicants early February but it seems that they changed it a few days ago to late February.
I got my rejection letter for the Ingram Scholarship right now. Heartbroken.
what were your stats @vaibhavm99
Did the notification come via email or snail mail?
Rejected via email at 5:34 pm. And no I don’t want to post the rejection letter like someone asked on another thread.
Could anyone who was chosen as a semifinalist post stats and service info? I wasn’t necessarily expecting to get it, but after being chosen as a regional finalist for coca cola and a finalist for the Reagan scholarship, both of which are much more selective and service based, I was a bit confused since they statistically should be more difficult to get than the Ingram Scholarship. I did apply to the Chancellor’s Scholarship as well, though. Not sure if they have a policy of only letting you be a finalist for one scholarship (only choose you for the one they believe fits you best), but I am hoping that is the case. Regardless, I am sure all the semifinalists are incredibly deserving. They may have just been looking for different things than previous scholarships I applied to. Who knows.
My D was not selected either, but she knew it was a long shot with so many applicants. Congratulations to all those moving on to the next round.
