Inputted "incorrect" information on Common App

The Common App asks you for class rank, and allows you to choose something like “Exact, decile, quintile, quartile, or none”. If you choose quartile, for example, it will ask if you are in the 25%, 50% 75%, etc.
My school ranks with an exact number, so I know exactly what rank I am out of a number of students. However, on the Common App I listed “quintile, top 20%” because that’s where I fall. If I were in the top 10% I would have put down “decile, top 10%”.
I now submitted my application, realizing that it was asking for HOW my school ranks, not what rank percentage I fall under. I should have listed “exact” ranking. Is this going to hurt my admission in any way?

Assuming your rank is on the transcript or covered in the Secondary School Report, no. You can send an email update to admissions if you’d like.

Rank is often not on the transcript but the GC is also asked to state yours and how done. I dont think this is a big problem. Ask your GC. But you can send an email simply clarifying how your school ranks and your exact rank. Short and done. No overexplaining.
