15-16 schools...maybe more?

13... 6 on the common app.

HAhaha I have ~13-15 schools. Yay... I'll be spending the next few weeks all on applications!

a girl in my class is applying to 24. i'm applying to ten which seems reasonable to me.

I don't think there's anythin inherintely wrong with applying to ten colleges. One thing I don't like to see, however, is people applying to places just for the sake of turning them down. That takes a space someone else could have had, and by the time people are taken off the wait-list they may have already made deposits at their second-choice schools. Apply to ten schools if you can see yourself at any of the ten. Also, bear in mind that depending on how your school is set up, each app might be a lot of work for other people. With my school's system, each app requires time and effort from several people. Only put that burden on others if you can see yourself at a school.

15 here, got into 8 so far, most of them were easy apps.

My reasoning is Hunt's number 1 good reason, comparing merit aid packages.

14, I need some scholarships/ opening possibilities / fee waiver schools for fun

10 + college apps??? That's expensive.
I'm plannin on applying to 9~12 (yeah, I'm a hypocrite) if I dont make Cornell ED

Lots of good free ones...

Tulane, Drake, Butler, Bradley, Marquette, Loyola Chicago, Duquesne....
