She is at Harvard now studying Biological Anthropology. She is going to pursue MSc in Medical Anthropology at Oxford, then Med School (undecided) upon her return

THe FSU football player also was named a Rhodes... ESPN - Florida State safety Myron Rolle wins Rhodes Scholarship

renotse-what fabulous news! Congrats to your D!

Quote: "You are kidding, right? It is so important to the University that he play in a football game that they're spending thousands of dollars on a charter? Am I missing some important concept here? BTW, what is so special about student athletes?"

Florida State stands a good chance of getting into the ACC championship game by winning tonight's game. Becoming the ACC champion would put them into a BCS bowl game, which would be worth more than a million extra dollars to the athletic department. For a school like FSU, a return to football prominence would be a major shot in the arm for admissions and fundraising. But even more importantly, Myron Rolle is a huge PR shot in the arm for FSU athletics, which has been rocked by athlete scandals in the past. I just saw network television coverage of his ride from the airport to the game. FSU Athletics would pay to fly Myron to Maryland on the Space Shuttle if it was necessary.

Here's another Rhodes interviewee who had to make the choice between his sport and the interview. He chose to run in the Division III Cross Country Nationals rather than go to the Rhodes interview, which was on the same date (Nov 22).

I thought Mr. Basham (of Outback) paid for the plane, not the University.

Wow! Renotse that is quite an honor. congrats! (I am always a couple of weeks behind!)

When Rhode created his scholarship he said that one of the requirements was activity in sports. Also, the Rhode Scholarship is given to a student attending a college that has never received the scholarship before.

There have been over 300 Rhodes scholars from Harvard. Perhaps that was a requirement when it started?
