Instrumental Music/Languages @ Boarding School

Here is a game to help pass the time:

Write your username
The instrument you will pursue at Boarding School
Where you applied
The languages you would pursue @ Boarding School

Random I know, but I'll start

abc123omg<3
Violin/Piano/Viola
Andover/Choate
Spanish/Chinese/Latin/Greek/Japanese

YeaH! I’m not the only one who is insane and plays three instruments!! (In a given week I will be at music school anywhere from 5-11 hours)

that is ALOT of languages. do you have time to learn any of them well?

You can only take one language at a time. :(

thingslost
Violin/Piano/Vocal (I know it’s not an instrument, but it’s still music. :D)
Andover/Exeter/Deerfield
Russian/French

Actually you can take two languages at once @ Andover and you can do other language enrichment and introductory classes. So you could explore many languages at once.

I didn’t know that. I only knew at Exeter you’re not allowed to. I assumed that they’re both the same. :D

Saer
Oboe (I specialized early on… But I can play flute and I want to learn saxophone, which is very similar)
Choate (top), Exeter, Andover, NMH
Chinese/Spanish (Chinese is awesome but I may just complete another year of Spanish and be done with it)

Starcrossed
Flute/Piccolo (maybe, I don’t really enjoy playing much anymore), Voice
Exeter
French/Italian

thegreatescape
piano, violin, or voice
exeter, hotchkiss, choate, or deerfield
either german, italian, latin, or russian

DEtrombone
trombone(obviously), piano, trumpet
Exeter
Spanish, Chinese

Also, at Exeter I’m pretty sure you can take multiple languages but it takes away an important course like a math or science course.

TlGER
violin, drums, guitar, oboe
ADES
Japanese, French, Latin, German, Italian, I WANT TO LEARN THEM ALL!
(I’m already trilingual and taking French; Language just comes really easy to me)

Well its a little harder to learn, Im sure you had a first language then moved somewhere and learned that language? OR your parents speak 2?

Its not easy just to learn 5 languages at school…

My parents speak 3 and I speak 3. Its fine I can just take the AP tests for the languages i know and get credit for that. I’m pretty fluent in le cours de francais as well so I might just take new languages. I dont know how to explain it, language and I just click.

Lol ok cool, ya I speak 3 …one not so fluent but close

If I include french itll be 4 languages I speak, what languages do u speak mpicz?

Piano
HADES, + Middlesex
Spanish/Chinese

I’m almost fluent in Spanish, and once I get there I’ll start Chinese.

agara
piano/guitar/violin/voice
latin/french/chinese/italian

I won’t be able to choose when the time comes

As a gentle reminder, Prep schools charge separately for music lessons - as much as $45/half hour. Check with your parents before you assume that you will be continuing in music in boarding school.

Also, all those small music classes (history of jazz, conducting seminar, graduationc credit for performing) are probably phantom and not really offered.

Karenasaurus
Well for private lessons:Double-majoring on violin, continuing piano
For picking back up: voice & theater
Going to Milton
Chinese (so my skills don’t randomly disintegrate xD) and Spanish or French.
Ehhh I’m taking Latin right now, and even though it’s my third year, I don’t enjoy it AT ALL :expressionless: The Latin program at my school is ew and the teacher is quite bipolar = not a good experience

asiankid29

piano/violin/viola
