Integrated Studies Program/Benjamin Franklin Scholars

Hey all,

CAS 2015 admit here. I got invited to apply to the ISP/BFS program. Can anyone tell me what this means? How selective it is to be asked to apply and also how selective it is to actually get in? How much of a commitment it is? etc?

I've browsed the website quite a bit but all it really tells me is that it is a residential program where I will be surrounded by a bunch of "intellectual people like me" and taking seminars with them.

I'm interested in majoring in Econ and hopefully working for a financial firm or major bank or consulting firm after college (and during college--internships). Having said that, this program sounds a bit more for the academic type, not my mold.

Can any current BFSers tell me more about the program? I don't want to miss out on a potentially great-sounding opportunity.

Same question.

ISP is new this year, so I don’t think even current BFSers will know too much about it. As for selectivity, I think every CAS admit is “invited” to apply.

No I don’t think so? A current Penn student I was talking to said I must be pretty smart to get invited to apply for BFS. She may have been wrong though…

I suppose in this thread I’m just asking about what exactly being in BFS entails?

I’m also a CAS admit, and I also recieved an invitation to apply to this program. I think everyone who was admitted to UPenn recieved an invite to apply.

All college students were invited to apply.
