An older thread on the subject. The OP ended up attending Swarthmore. <a href=“Ivy-caliber Safeties (and Matches): Condensed Advice - College Search & Selection - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/881237-ivy-caliber-safeties-and-matches-condensed-advice.html

Thanks all! I’ll be checking out all of these suggestions.

@SlitheyTove I’ll check out that thread. After some searching, both on College Confidential and Google, I was unable to find that thread; sorry.

^ You mean the thread @SlitheyTove put in the post above? #-o

@Astrotech, just click on the link and the thread will pop up.

@Erin’s Dad @SlitheyTove Yes, I know that; I was referring to prior the creation of the thread. :)

…Of course I know that you can click on the URL. :)

I’m just saying that I didn’t see that thread prior to this thread’s creation.

Although I would be facepalming too… :)

If by intellectual you mean being surrounded by people who want to debate ideas and theories without any regard to their future employability, then Northeastern is not intellectual. But unless you are a trust fund kid or daddy can get you a job after graduation, an intellectual environment isn’t going to help you pay off you student loans.

@TomSrOfBoston
My idea of an intellectual environment is like what you mentioned, but the students should still put care into their future plans and employability.

Astrotech: there’s no correlation between wanting to discuss ideas, theories, and events, and finding/not finding a job. Don’t worry.
Although: Reed and Swarthmore students love this kind of discussions, but they also have the heaviest workload in the country and that doesn’t leave too much time to chat ;).
