I'm pretty interested in architecture, as I enjoy drawing and I'm smart and logical. I want to go to a school with an excellent undergrad program that is down south. I was thinking these schools:

UVA, VT, Tulane, Georgia Tech, NJIT (I live in New Jersey, safety)

How are these architecture schools compared to others? Worst case scenario I would go to an arch school up north like Michigan or Syracuse.

If you want to see which schools I match up to, here's the link to my chances page.

fender, I think your stats are in the ballpark for both UVA and VT, but you are right in understanding the OOS factor in the equation. Wanting to apply to the Architecture schools even complicates things more because of the limited number of students admitted. I am more familiar with the standards for VT’s Architecture program, but I am sure UVA (which has a four year B.S. in Architecture, not the 5 yr BARCH) are just as high or even higher. Here is a link with the incoming student profiles at CAUS (College of Architecture and Urban Studies) at Virginia Tech:

I hope this helps some. You have some great schools on your list. If you can take a visit to see them, it really helps to see what each has to offer. Good luck with everything!

UVA and GTech are 4 year programs while VTech, Tulane are 5 year B-Arch programs. You should know the difference between 4 and 5 yr programs. No idea about NJIT. Having said that all of those schools you listed are very good and very competitive to get in. Suggest you jack up SAT around 1350 - 1450 range (Math + CR) and keep working on your portfolio. Then, you will be alright. Good luck!
