Interested in attending University of Oregon's Clark Honors College, right fit?

I've recently applied for the U of O's Clark Honors College, but after doing some research have realized it may not be right for me. From what I understand, the only courses that are actually "honors" are literature, history, and social science courses. I intend to major in physics. I don't want to waste time doing extensive work for a class that does not even apply to my main focus of study when I could be studying/doing work for my science/math based classes.

However, I do like the idea of being in an honors college. It looks nice on resumes and opens more opportunities for grad schools.

I'm wondering if it would be worth it to just stick out the honors lit and history courses and have the title of having attended an honors college or to just attend the university and focus more on what my major is all about.

Hi taylortuttle, while the Honors College may or may not be the best fit for you, I do want to point out that the CHC curriculum does include the natural sciences–in fact, biology is the most popular major among CHC students. That said, there are other programs for high achieving students at the UO, including departmental honors and the College Scholars program. If you’d like to talk to someone here about these programs, please contact David Van Der Haeghen at 541-346-1247 or davidvdh@uoregon.edu.
