<p>This article is predominantly about ethnic minorities at umich but it does mention some of harvard's policies, and breaks down their 150 point scale... for instance, 80-110 points are given for academia, then 20 for unusual circumstances, 20 for ethnicity, etc. It's an interesting read, simply because the Court makes them sweat occasionally. Of course I may have misread the whole thing (or the interesting bits anyway)!</p>

<p>sorry id ont want to read the whole transcript, but are you saying umich or harvard uses points like that? i was almost certain harvard doesn't do admissions by points like that, but i know umich does</p>
<p>Yeah it's Michigan's point scale. According to statements made during the examination, Harvard gives minorities a "soft plus" in order to get a class with enough diversity in it, but there's apparently no explicit advantage given to minorities in the sense that it'll add 100 points onto your SAT scores or something like that.</p>
